A poster presentation titled “Developing a Conservation Action Plan Framework for Elusive Small and Medium Wild Felids” was presented by Urjit Bhatt, focusing on integrated conservation approaches for India’s lesser-known wild cat species, including the Caracal, Fishing Cat, and Clouded Leopard.

The framework emphasizes the integration of science-based research, policy support, habitat conservation, and community participation to strengthen long-term conservation planning for these elusive species across diverse landscapes in India. The initiative forms part of the GOI–UNDP–GEF-7 project titled “Strengthening Conservation and Resilience of Wild Cat Landscapes through a Focus on Small Cat and Leopard Conservation.

The work contributes towards developing a coordinated conservation framework for small and medium wild felids, with a focus on ecological connectivity, climate resilience, monitoring, and landscape-level conservation actions.
